I've been using the Internet for a long, long time, but surprisingly
this is my first Usenet post. Anyways, with that out of the way...
Can anyone recommend any good newsgroups? I must say that I'm baffled
and confused by this strange new land that I'm confronted with, and need
some pointers. I like science, economics, and technology in general, and
interesting network types (decentralized p2p, wireless mesh, etc...) in
particular. But I'm open to any suggestions, I can get interested in
just about anything.
All the best,
Casey
PS I looked around for myself for a little while, but I was confronted
with endless spam and THE MOST DISTURBING PORNOGRAPHY I HAVE EVER SEEN.
'Lo Casey --

If after dealing with the spam and the porn, you are still
determined to check out UseNet, then all you need is either
a good killfiler (most newsreaders have one) or a fast mouse
finger. Personally, i just use the mouse finger (right index).

So go back and look around some more. There are thousands
of newsgroups on just about any and every topic you like. Try
here...

http://www.google.com/grphp

to make your search more effective. When you find a group
you like, try to locate a FAQ list (Frequently Asked Questions)
and/or a group charter and posting guidelines. You can either
just ignore the spam and porn or you can killfile it.

hth

happy days and...
starry starry nights!

Use the Google groups search page to search for words that you are
interested in. For example, if you are interested in the new Ford
Mustang car then search for Ford or Mustang. Then read the newsgroups
mentioned in the search results, and see if you like them.
