Does anyone know of any family oriented news groups. I've been
looking and those that I've found are pretty empty.

See, the problem is spam. Because spammers have learned how to
autopost messages to UseNet newsgroups, and because lots of the
spam is... shall we say... less than family oriented, people who used
to like to post to these groups have found other places to go.

Some have joined LISTSERVS, which are more private and not so
prone to be attacked by spammers. The trick here is to check in
from time to time with the UseNet groups which you say are "pretty
empty". Usually about once a week or so, the LISTSERV will post
a message explaining how to join it.

Other avenues would be places like Yahoo and AOL, which have
private groups and chat areas which focus on family and many other
wholesome subjects. You'll find links to these and other good spots
on my web pages linked to below.

And a whole lot of love till your cold...
Everyone here wants to live a long life,
But nobody wants to get old.

I have to agree. Places like AOL have their message boards moderated
and they enforce it very rigorously. Spam isn't tolerated and they
will cancel a person's account if they do it too much or get enough
complaints against them.
